Somehow, life gets more disturbing the more slang you know (
See: July - Lesson 3). Every word, every phrase somehow turns into a sexual innuendo. Know your slang, but know to keep your mind out of the gutter!
Example:
"Raincoat."

In publishings concerning the award of academic achievement, it's probably a good idea to look up names/abbreviations of things you don't know about. Otherwise, your awarding is suddenly questionable.
If, due to questionable awards, you do not stay in school, you can always make "music" from bodily functions and post them on Youtube to the chagrin/amusement (select one) of others.

There is a very fine line between being a thesaurus addict
*coughstephaniecoughmeyercough* and being unversed in adjectives
*coughhouseofcoughflyingdaggerscoughsubtitlescough*. Try to stay in the middle.
Shirley Hour
Mistakenly, many think that the thesaurus is their friend. However,
as evident in many books today, it could potentially prove to be disastrous, especially when the thesaurus is used for an assignment. On the other hand, one may learn some
fascinating, fascinating (yes, double the word for oomph) new words/phrases that were previously unknown.
Example: Exhaustion/lethargy --> Brain fag

Who needs plastic surgery or liposuction? All you need are homophones!
Exhibit A: "Oh, you deleted my 'but'."
Exhibit B: "You deleted all my 'noes' too."
Lesson: Editing parties can be fun!

Hearing a phrase incorrectly can be hilarious!! Mostly when you repeat it because you think it's the correct term. Example: skype diaper. Correct term: sky diver.

Never follow up the question "What year in school are you?" after "Are you an undergraduate or graduate student?" to an international student. 95% of the time, they will reply with "Yes," leaving you in a slightly awkward situation, 4% of the time, you will receive a blank stare, and 1% of the time, you will get a logical response.

Comebacks are a necessary skill in life. Being able to take retorts is one thing, being able to throw them back at the enemy is quite another.
Be sure you can handle at least a few rounds of a comeback battle. Otherwise, you're going to look lame. Very much so.

Euphemisms sometimes just aren't that euphemistic, especially swear words. You might as well use the real thing.
Example: "You don't know squat!"
Slang definition of squat:
noun. Used as a euphemism for "shit", which comes from the act of squatting in order to defecate.
Shirley Hour
Be well versed in slang. Otherwise, updating Facebook statuses (and similar things) will lead to some potentially interesting and awkward conversations...
Example provided by ajenn:
"I think it's about time to trim my bush :/"
"I hope your bush is in the garden..."
